Gao selected to European consortium of high-performance computing experts
University of Delaware professor Guang Gao has been selected to join a consortium of worldwide experts working to address high-performance computing challenges. The consortium, called TERAFLUX, is the first international effort of its kind to bring together top specialists in data flow for high-performance computing from the United States and Europe.

“Congressman, you have a heavy workload,” Rishi Khan of ET International (ETI) said to Congressman John Carney. “Imagine having five people to pass your work off to when you become overwhelmed without having to explain what to do, when to do it, how to coordinate or where to go to get required information. Then those five have five people to support them in the same way. “Now repeat that 1,000 times,” explained Khan. “That's what we do at ET International—that’s supercomputing.”

NSF awards UD-NCAR group a petascale computing grant to study turbulent clouds.
Five University of Delaware faculty members have received a $1,064,500 grant from the National Science Foundation to conduct research on multiscale modeling of turbulent clouds on petascale computers. Two scientists from a collaborating institution, the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR), will receive a separate award of $300,000 for the same project.
